Intracurricular Program

Classroom education is the foundation of our program.  We typically offer 3 classes per semester.  From these classes students develop individual projects, conduct Ag-based scientific research, and participate in FFA.  The program is designed to grow leaders, develop communities, and strengthen agriculture.

Agricultural Education is part of FOCUS students' education plan.  Students take Ag classes that count for high school science (see your contact teacher). All of our opportunities are packed with soft & hard skills as well as countless AIMS learning standards.

Award Winning Program

Silent Springs FFA chapter of North Pole was named a Three Star Chapter for the 2018 National Chapter award by the National FFA Organization.

The program recognizes outstanding FFA chapters throughout the country that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization.  These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality FFA Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture.  Chapters are awarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership.

Silent Springs FFA will be recognized in the 2nd general session of the 2018 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis on October 27th.

FOCUS Homeschool

A Unique Approach to Education

We believe an education model should adapt to students’ individual needs and strengths. Because of this, Chugach School District has successfully applied for a waiver from the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development to replace traditional graduation requirements, Carnegie units or credits, with performance standards. Our performance standards

-Provide a clear road map of graduation requirements and real-life skills for success.

-Are not time-bound and allow students to progress along learning continuum at their own pace whenever they’re ready.

-Are flexible to allow students to gain knowledge and skills in their own learning style.

-Balance teaching styles and homeschool philosophies: direct instruction, applied learning, simulations and real-life experiences.

-Allow students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in a variety of ways that highlight their strengths.

-Are organized into developmental continuum in 10 content areas that address the whole child. Students can learn anytime, anywhere!
